Douglas OHI has been made aware of reports of fraudulent recruitment practices that falsely use the Douglas OHI name and the group of entities connected to our company. Unauthorised individuals are impersonating our staff to recruit candidates and sometimes solicit up-front fees from interested job seekers.
Typical Scam Process
Be aware and vigilant! The emails and offer letters of the fraudsters may appear legitimate by using our company logo and claiming that they are a representative of our organisation.
Recruitment Scam
- The fraudsters falsely publish the recruitment advertisement with DOUGLAS OHI LOGO.
- The fraudsters present an offer of employment falsely on behalf of DOUGLAS OHI.
- Someone claiming to be a representative from DOUGLAS OHI contacts the applicants.
- Candidates are interviewed over the phone or via skype and referred to DOUGLAS OHI’s website for further information.
Fraudsters instruct prospective candidates to pay them fees for immigration and visa application/processing.
Advance Fee Scam
- transfer of money for various services, including work permits, visa administration, agency fees, deposits on accommodation, and medical examinations.
- The fraudsters ask for personal information such as bank account details to set up salary payments.
- After the fraudsters collect an upfront payment, they claim to reimburse the target in the future.
For example, the targets may receive a business proposal or transaction using the name of DOUGLAS OHI, promising to send products/services, offer to participate in a special deal, solicit contract bids on fictitious projects, etc.
- Once the fraudsters receive the payment, they will stop responding to any communications from the “candidates”.
Detecting A Scam and How to Avoid Them
- Fraudsters usually communicate only via email and telephone with reluctance or refusal to meet in person.
- DOUGLAS OHI officials do not communicate via generic or free web-based email addresses. All communications will always originate from a verifiable DOUGLAS OHI email address (domains of @douglasohi.com)
- Individuals who successfully gain an employment offer from DOUGLAS OHI are always required to undergo a formal recruitment process. Generally, prior to receiving any formal offer, the candidate must meet with a DOUGLAS OHI employee or representative for a face-to-face interview.
- Fraudsters will ask for advance payment to proceed with the “candidate’s” application.
- Douglas OHI and its affiliates never request payment and seek fees from candidates during the recruitment and onboarding processes.
- Conduct general searches (Google for DOUGLAS OHI and visit the official website) to verify the details provided in false letters and communications (i.e., GM’s name and companies under DOUGLAS OHI Group).
- Without a formal interview process, fraudsters will give you an offer letter with a request to confirm personal information, such as bank account details.
- Fraudsters will insist the “candidate” take urgent action to help them relocate at short notice.
If you are approached, contacted, or receive an employment offer from Douglas OHI LLC that you believe to be fraudulent. We urge you to contact your local law enforcement agency immediately.
