HSE Campaign: Plant and Equipment Safety

Plant & Equipment Safety Campaign

Staying safe whilst operating equipment and plant is essential on any construction site. Unsafe operation of equipment and plant and the associated hazards can potentially cause life-altering injury.

Douglas OHI are running sessions designed to make employees aware of the dangers of operating/working in close proximity to other vehicles/obstructions. This includes:

  • Having a safe system of work in place.
  • Preventing access to dangerous parts/areas.
  • Planning safe routes of travel.
  • The use of barricades and assigning a trained signal person.
  • Always your seatbelt and obey driving rules, speed limits and signage.
  • Ensuring switches and buttons are clearly marked.
  • As well as know when to stop!

During the session best practices were shared, and employees were reminded of the health and safety requirements, control measures and how to identify potential hazards when working with/close to plant equipment.
