Demonstrating operational readiness in high-risk environments is a responsibility Douglas OHI takes seriously. Recently, our project site in Abu Dhabi hosted a full-scale mock drill designed to assess and enhance our emergency response systems under realistic conditions.
Planned and led by our HSSE (Health, Safety, Sustainability, Environment) team, the drill simulated an incident scenario requiring immediate evacuation, first aid response, and coordinated communication between site personnel and external emergency services. The goal: to measure not just reaction time, but clarity of roles, decision-making under pressure, and alignment with project-specific emergency plans.
The exercise provided valuable insights into how our teams respond under simulated stress. It also offered an opportunity for hands-on reinforcement of training, sharpening the practical skills and confidence of everyone involved - from frontline operatives to site leadership.
Mock drills like this are a critical part of our ongoing commitment to embedding a proactive safety culture. They help ensure that lessons are learned before a real emergency ever occurs, and that every member of our workforce understands their role in maintaining a safe and sustainable work environment.
At Douglas OHI, we view emergency preparedness not as a checkbox, but as an evolving practice rooted in leadership, learning, and continuous improvement.
