At Douglas OHI, the strength of our operations lies in the people who drive them forward every day. In alignment with our ongoing commitment to safety, education, and wellbeing, we recently hosted a Mass Toolbox Talk (TBT) session and commemorated International Workers’ Day with a dedicated programme for our workforce.
The Mass TBT session was designed to reinforce key aspects of on-site safety and empower our workforce with the knowledge they need to carry out their duties safely and effectively.
The session covered four essential areas:
• Understanding Heat Stress: With rising temperatures in the region, we addressed the signs, symptoms, and prevention methods associated with heat stress - ensuring our teams are well-prepared and informed.
• The Importance of PPE: Personal Protective Equipment remains a frontline defence. We revisited the correct usage and upkeep of PPE to reduce risk and enhance personal safety.
• Safe Working Methods: The session emphasised the importance of planning and executing work with safety-first practices that are both practical and proven.
• TBT Record Signing: We reinforced the value of accurate and consistent record-keeping as part of our transparent safety culture.
International Workers’ Day presented an opportunity not just to celebrate the contributions of our teams, but to reflect on the deeper connection between good health, physical wellbeing, and safe work practices. Our discussions focused on integrating wellness into daily routines - on and off site - and adopting habits that sustain long-term health.
These initiatives are more than compliance measures - they reflect our belief that a well-informed, healthy, and supported workforce is fundamental to excellence in delivery and performance. By fostering a culture where safety and wellbeing are understood as shared responsibilities, we aim to create environments where every worker feels valued and protected.
