Nurturing Nature: How Bird Nesting Supports Biodiversity on World Biodiversity Day 2025 and Beyond

At Douglas OHI, our commitment to sustainability extends beyond the construction site and into the ecosystems we operate within. In honour of World Biodiversity Day 2025, we are proud to share the progress of our Bird Nesting Campaign - an initiative that reflects our belief that small actions, when multiplied, can lead to powerful environmental impact.

So far, we’ve successfully installed 55 bird nests across our MCC-DOHI Office, Laydown, and Residential Camp, with clear signs of growing bird populations. Each nest, along with water and feeding cups, is crafted using recycled waste, reinforcing our dedication to circular practices and reducing our environmental footprint.

This campaign is more than a sustainability effort - it’s a statement of responsibility. By creating safe, supportive habitats for native bird species, we’re not only contributing to local biodiversity but also inspiring a culture of environmental stewardship across our workforce.

Our success would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our Client and the many volunteers who continue to breathe life into this initiative. Their engagement underlines the power of collective effort in building a more balanced and biodiverse future.

Looking ahead, we remain focused on expanding the reach and impact of this initiative. As we mark World Biodiversity Day, we invite more voices, more ideas, and more hands to join us in driving meaningful change - because safeguarding biodiversity is not a one-day task; it is an ongoing responsibility.

Let’s keep building - responsibly, inclusively, and in harmony with nature.
