At Douglas OHI, safety is integral to our operations. Demonstrating our commitment to maintaining a secure working environment, our team in KSA recently conducted a Chemical Spill Emergency Preparedness Drill. The exercise aimed to strengthen emergency response capabilities and evaluate the effectiveness of our Emergency Response Plan (ERP) in managing chemical spill incidents.
Objectives of the Drill
The primary objective of the drill was to assess and enhance employees’ preparedness in responding swiftly and effectively to an emergency. The key focus areas included:
• Ensuring compliance with operational procedures as outlined in the ERP.
• Verifying the functionality of mobilisation and communication systems.
• Evaluating the Emergency Response Team’s (ERT) readiness for casualty recovery within the vicinity.
• Providing all team members with an opportunity to rehearse the necessary actions required in an actual emergency.
• Measuring response times to ensure a prompt and effective reaction.
• Identifying weaknesses and areas for improvement within the emergency plan.
• Recognising strengths and reinforcing best practices in emergency response.
• Enhancing overall workforce readiness and preparedness levels.
The drill yielded valuable insights into our emergency response capabilities, highlighting both areas of excellence and opportunities for further enhancement. This initiative reinforced the importance of regular training and continuous improvement in emergency preparedness protocols.
By conducting such drills, Douglas OHI reaffirms its proactive approach to upholding the highest health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, ensuring that our teams are well-equipped to manage emergency situations effectively.
Emergency preparedness is a fundamental aspect of our operations. This drill underscores our unwavering commitment to maintaining a safe and secure working environment. Moving forward, we will continue to refine our emergency response strategies to ensure that all employees possess the confidence and capability to manage unforeseen incidents.
At Douglas OHI, safety is in our DNA.
