1 Million safe work hours with Zero LTI reflecting strong safety culture

Douglas OHI is proud to announce a significant health and safety achievement with 1 million safe work hours completed without a Lost Time Injury (LTI) on one of its major projects in Sohar.

This accomplishment reflects more than operational performance. It demonstrates a deeply embedded safety culture where discipline, awareness, and accountability guide every activity on site. It is the outcome of consistent behaviours, strong leadership, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring everyone returns home safely every day.

Reaching 1 million safe work hours in a complex and high-risk construction environment is a direct result of rigorous planning, effective risk management, and the dedication of the entire workforce. Every hour worked safely represents thousands of decisions made with care, focus, and responsibility.

To recognise this milestone, the client hosted a celebration bringing together project leadership and the wider project team. The event provided an opportunity to acknowledge the collective effort behind this achievement and the people who continue to drive strong safety performance every day.

The client commended the workforce for their consistency, professionalism, and proactive approach to safety. Particular emphasis was placed on the strength of the safety culture across the project, where communication, hazard awareness, and intervention are part of everyday working practice rather than procedural requirements alone.

Douglas OHI leadership emphasised that achievements of this scale are built through commitment at every level of the organisation. They are the result of visible leadership, robust systems, and a workforce that understands safety is not an initiative but a core value that underpins all activity.

This milestone reinforces the principle that operational excellence and safety excellence are inseparable. Sustained performance at this level is only possible when every individual takes ownership and works collectively toward shared standards.

As the project continues, the focus remains firmly on maintaining this strong performance, strengthening the safety culture further, and ensuring that every milestone ahead is achieved with the same level of care and discipline.
